In general, when purifying city water, the filter may be membrane or RO (Reverse Osmosis) System. By the way the salts dissolve in water can be filtered through only RO System. In the case of ipl, the by-product is rinsed with water to dissolve/clean down salts and then the remaining solid is composted and the rinse water is purified by RO System to separate the salts dissolved in the water.
